Getting Involved in Our Parish

On November 10, 1908, the Sacred Heart Altar Society was organized by some of the women of the parish, to provide and care for the things required for the worship service of the church. The Altar Society's functions have remained essentially unchanged over the years. It continues to support and assist the worship and liturgical functions of the parish. It continues to help in the purchase of items necessary for the altar, as well as assisting in cleaning and improving altar furnishings.

On July 4, 1920, a group of men in the parish joined together to form a Third Degree Council of the Knights of Columbus. it was formed to be an organization of lay men to help the pastor with the spiritual, financial, and material needs of our parish. It was also to be a social club for its members and their families.

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas came into being in Tillamook, Oregon on September 10, 1944 when 53 charter members were initiated by the degree team from Court marion, Mt. Angel. Teh aim was the propagation and preservation of the Holy Faith, intensification of patriotism, and the material, moral and intellectual development of Catholic Womanhood. We are also pledged to the dispensation of charity.

The Pastoral Advisory Concil is the advisory body of the parish. It provides the forum for discussion of matters related to the spiritual and material well-being of the parish. it assists the Pastor through the work of the various Council Commissions which are Faith Formation, Outreach, Community Life and Liturgy & Worship.

The Administrative Council is comprised of persons who give their time and talent to advice and recommend proposal and suggestions relative to budget and financial planning. This Council also review existing buildings and grounds to determine efficient and proper use and condition. In addition, they deal with Sacred Heart personnel matters.

Ministry of the Sick
Of Course there are many ways a person can be invovled in our parish community. One could be a lector, a choir member, an altar server, usher, Communion to the homebound, Faith in Action, Eucharistic Minister or a Religious Education teacher, to name a few.
